Therapy

The Process

Families can reach out to Dr. Lewis for a free 15-minute consultation through phone or email. The consultation is intended for families to provide their current concerns and decide whether they want to pursue treatment with Dr. Lewis. If families choose to look elsewhere for services, Dr. Lewis will provide appropriate referrals. Following the consultation, families can schedule a time for therapy sessions (offered via telehealth or in-person). In-person services are preferred for children under 10 years of age and for children who are ‘high-risk.’ Sessions are typically weekly and are billed at an hourly rate. Dr. Lewis is an out-of-network provider.

Dr. Lewis encourages ‘high-risk’ children (e.g., those who are suicidal or engage in self-harm behaviors) to attend sessions weekly. The first session is used for the intake and treatment planning. The intake portion is an opportunity for families to share current concerns, as well as background information (e.g., family history, medical history, treatment history, etc.).

The treatment planning portion of the session is used to develop goals and discuss how to effectively reach those goals. Dr. Lewis provides both short-term (e.g., 12 weeks) and long-term therapy (e.g., 12+ weeks). Dr. Lewis schedules sessions during school hours, with more limited availability after school (e.g., 3 pm and later).
